Vegetables - most veggies will be planted after May 15 (frost free date). However, there are cool crops that can be planted as early as mid-March. Annuals - same as veggies. Perennials - best planted in spring or fall. Require more attention if planted in summer. Trees/shrubs - same as perennials.
Bulbs- Spring-flowering bulbs, such as tulips, daffodils, hyacinth and crocuses, should be planted in early September. Bulbs that bloom from early summer to fall, such as dahlias, cannas, caladiums and bareroot items, like hosta, daylilies, peonies and bleeding hearts, are planted in early April.
